How we keep children well, safe and cared for each day.
We serve nutritious meals throughout the day, so your child stays fed and energized for activities. You can to view a sample of our meal plans before you enroll. If your child has a food sensitivity, please inform us during the admissions process. That way our team can plan around it from the start. Ask us any questions about meals when you visit.
Precious Cargo conducts screenings on all children until school-age every 6 months. Teachers use the results for lesson planning in each classroom. When results show a need for further intervention, referrals are sent home. Assessments are completed twice a year and shared with families at parent teacher conferences.
Staff administer medication with proper permission. Medication must arrive in its original container with the prescription label if applicable, plus instructions, dosage and times. We follow only the label for dosage and age, and the label must list your child's age and dosage. If it says see a doctor for dosage, a doctor must complete the required form.
At this time, we do not accept children who are not immunized. If your child is in the process of being immunized, contact the director. Every child must have an immunization record on file covering chicken pox, diphtheria, haemophilus type B, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, influenza, measles, mumps, pertussis, pneumococcal disease, poliomyelitis, rotavirus, rubella and tetanus.
A child with a cold, stomachache or headache may attend if they can take part in daily activities. We reserve the right to send a child home for a non-communicable disease. No child is left unattended. If we think your child needs medical attention, staff contact you or your designated contacts, and call for emergency transportation in an emergency.
Health and safety work quietly in the background of a child care day. Staff check who is signed in, watch for runny noses and low energy, and note what a child eats at meals. Screenings every 6 months tell teachers what a child can do now and what to plan next.
When the small things are handled, you notice it at home. Your child comes home fed, rested and dry, with a note about a scraped knee before you spot the bandage. You know who watched them, what they ate, and what happens if they run a fever. Ask us anything this page does not answer.
